Pictures during the OFM years

In June of 1994 I professed "to observe the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ by living in obedience, without anything of" my own, "and in chastity."1 This occurred at San Damiano Friary in Cedar Lake, Indiana.  In this picture I am professing vows in the hands of Fr. John Bok, who was the Provincial Minister of St. John the Baptist Province.  An interesting side note concerning the other two friar priests in this picture:  both are now Provincial Ministers.  On the left is Fr. Tom Luczak (he was my novice-master) of Assumption Province and on the left Fr. Fred Link of St. John the Baptist Province.

1. Regula Bullata 1223, Chapter 1.

Every year St. John the Baptist province holds an All Province Assembly (or a Chapter every third year) at the University of Dayton.  This picture is taken there in front the vocation office's display.  My companions are three Poor Clare nuns and their novice.  Notice the beard just keeps getting longer.  Clearly, somebody thought he was an eastern monk.
What happened to that super-beard?  Only a remnant left.  Here I am standing before the iconostasis and tetrapod at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Church in Munster, Indiana, where I was cantor for two years.  This picture was taken in January of 1996, six months before I decided to let my second year of vows expire.
